This course explores the sources of modern fantasy literature and its variations into the present day: short story, novel, graphic novel, film and gaming.Course Overview
Course topics will include:
- The sources of modern fantasy
- The speciation of 20thC Weird Fiction
- The effect of market forces on fantastic expression
- The unique position of fantasy to launch ideological critique

Mark BarrAssociate Professor Mark Barr is an Associate Professor at Saint Mary’s University. Although his area of specialty is British Romanticism and the literary aspects of legal discourse, he also publishes and teaches in modern Fantasy literature. |
